All things yoga....

In the past week, I have:

  • started teacher training and spent all day Saturday and Sunday in a yoga studio learning more about yoga sculpt, and also took a c1 class and a yoga sculpt class
  • attended two c2 classes
  • attended one c3 class
  • attended one yoga sculpt class
  • observed one yoga sculpt class

Good thing I got the go-ahead to do yoga last week because it has seemingly taken over my life.  Teacher training definitely has been a huge reason why!

We got this huge three-ring binder at the start of Yoga Sculpt Teacher Training.

And on the first page, it has everything you must do, in order to receive your certificate.

  • attend all teacher training classes
  • complete all homework assignments, including take-home examination
  • take 5 yoga sculpt classes
  • take 5 C1 or C1.5 classes
  • observe 2 yoga sculpt classes
  • take 2 group exercise classes (outside of CPY) that incorporate music and weight training
Clearly, I'm trying to take down those requirements ASAP.
On Monday, I went to a class at sixpax that incorporated weights and music.

My favorite ice skater joined me

We did SixPax Sculpt:

Utilizing the Lotte Berk Method, this class will help you achieve that strong, lean body of a dancer. We will use challenging cardio intervals at a faster pace and toning exercises to reach complete muscle fatigue and then elongate the muscle with lengthening exercises. The group circuit setting uses a ballet bar, Pilates, resistance bands, core balls, and light weights to mix things up and keep it fun. This calorie burning class ends with a hard earned stretch.

The class incorporated the use of a lot of different muscles and there was really no time to get bored while doing something because you don't do it for very long.  The other plus was that there weren't that many exercises that I couldn't participate in because of my hip.

D and I are going to try On Your Mark this weekend.  I'm excited to see how intense it might be.  The coaches look legit!  Plus, when I called to learn more about it, one of the coaches just had a labral tear surgery--they will definitely understand my limitations and help with modifications!

So what are your favorite classes that utilize music and weights?  And are you a yoga a convert or do you dislike it like I used to?

Cheers to the freakin' weekend!
